Adult Learn to Sail Programs

To ensure safety, participants must be able to swim 25 yards unaided and bring a US Coast Guard-approved life jacket to class. Our sessions run on Saturdays from 9:00 AM to noon during spring and fall. Each class comprises essential onshore instruction followed by time spent sailing. Due to limited class sizes, we recommend early registration. Both Atlanta Yacht Club members and non-members are welcome to join. Set sail with us and start your sailing journey today!

Fees are $400 (Guests) and $175 (AYC members) per person for the 5-weekend sessions.

Ever wondered why people love sailing, or perhaps you sailed as a child or with a friend and want to try again? Our Adult Learn to Sail programs are your perfect gateway to understanding the basic principles of sailing. These engaging and enjoyable classes are designed to maximize your time on the water, offering a hands-on learning experience.

This Learn to Sail program is for those 16 years old and older, with little to no sailing experience, and are anxious to learn. This sailing program includes classroom and on-the-water sailing experience to introduce students to the basics of sailboats, how they are rigged, what makes them move and how to launch and return to the dock. Students will have the opportunity to sail several different one-design sailboats with an onboard coach providing real-time feedback and helping them learn.
